Carrie Gibson and Anthony Curry of Had to Be Productions have been touring their unique plays and trainings to corporations, government agencies, conferences and colleges across the nation for the past 13 years. Had to Be's mission is to engage the imagination and inspire active empathy through original theatrical documentary plays and workshops designed to enlighten, entertain and move an organization forward. Some of their clients include Boeing, Microsoft, Wells Fargo, McDonald's, The FBI, The Veteran's Administration, Returning Warrior Workshops and the Department of Defense.
They offer 5 presentations, each consisting of a play and workshop discussion, on the topics of Diversity, Disabilities, LGBT Inclusion, Gender Bias, Returning Veterans with Disabilities including PTSD.
- Not Until You Know My Story: a play about multiple dimensions of diversity and inclusion that addresses ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, transgender, size and privilege.
- Not Just Ramps: a play about physical, emotional and societal access issues for a diverse group of people with visible and non-apparent disabilities.
- Into The Fire: a play about our returning Vets with disabilities and combat related trauma and their stories as they reintegrate into their families, communities, educational institutions and the work force.
- Because You Know Me: a play about gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual inclusion from a variety of perspectives that speaks to the reality of anyone who has had to face the question of whether to share a relevant aspect of their identity in a work setting.
- The Gender Agenda - Can’t We Just Be Different: a play about the current, and often subtle, forms of gender bias that affect the productivity and culture of the workplace as well as challenge and expand the perceptions of leadership.
